The Scottish Highland is a great touristy area that definitely worth visiting. Great highland hotels, beautiful nature, warm, welcoming people, this place definitely has a lot to offer for tourists. The Delfour Ring Cairn is an ancient ring of stones the orientation of which, speculation suggests, corresponds to certain settings of the sun and moon and was probably used for ceremonial purposes. The chambered cairn at Avielochan is a natural chamber in a wood enhanced in ancient times by standing stones, some of which still remain. Many practitioners of alternative arts still believe the area has magical properties. Cairngorm is a short drive from the town of Aviemore and offers a host of outdoor activities in the summer and winter alike. The modern funicular railway takes visitors to the roof of Scotland for amazing views of the highlands. There are several hiking trails and in the winter Cairngorm becomes one of the most popular ski and snowboard places in the UK.
