To prevent aquarium disasters that are caused by aquarium water heaters malfunctions, there are a few things one must do. First of all is to invest in a quality heater. Buying the cheapest kind will just eventually cause more trouble later on. For aquarium water heaters, you always get what you pay for. There should also be an accurate thermometer inside the aquarium to confirm that the heater setting is working. There are thermometers that come with an alarm, thereby giving a warning when there are major shifts in the water temperature. When installing the water heater, make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions to the letter. The heater should be properly installed to avoid accidents like fish deaths. Regularly cleaning the heater is also important. This will prevent salt creep from happening. The water level of the aquarium should also be consistently maintained especially if you are using aquarium water heaters that are the submersible types, as these should be completely submerged in order to function well.
