In order to become an LPN (licensed practical nurse), you have to go to a state approved program most often offered through colleges, and then pass a state exam to obtain your license.

You need to have your high school diploma or equivalent paperwork in order to even gain entry to this nursing program.

Most states require you to attend a certain amount of credit hours which usually comes close to one year. You also must maintain a certain grade point average in order to graduate and some schools require a criminal background check. Most LPN jobs will also require this.
