I know that many an American cringes when they hear the name of Robert Mcnamara however those that know a little about the auto industry and its recent history may view him in a slightly better light. Many on the Car Forums this week have paid tribute to the work that McNamara did with the Ford Motor group back in the 40′s and 50′s. he made enemies when he first went to Ford because he shook up the failing company and this alienated those that were stuck in the mud and didn’t want to change. However we owe things like the safety belt and other safety elements to Robert McNamara.
